Happy New Year’s Day!
I’ve had almost two weeks off work, and I have had a fantastic time visiting with family, enjoying the season, and getting out (the few times the sun was shining) to take some photos.
On Christmas Eve I went over to the Moira River. I parked in the lot that’s across from the Empire Theatre, and found quite a good number of ducks and geese, including some Goldeneye, Red-breasted Mergansers, and three male Hooded Mergansers. Here’s a photo I got of one of the ‘Hoodies’.

The next sunny day (that I had a chance to take advantage of) came on December 29th. I got up early and took a leisurely drive down CR2 to Wellington Harbour. The open waters were full of swans, geese, Mallards, and diving ducks. It was great!
I tried to sneak over to a picnic table on the main pier, but of course all the ducks saw me, and beat a hasty retreat! So I sat patiently, and eventually the birds started to inch closer. Occasionally one of the diving ducks would surface nearby to where I was sitting, and allowed me to take its photo. Here are a few of the shots that I got.

On December 30th, I decided to trek over to Presqu’ile Provincial Park. Unfortunately most of the park was closed because the roads were impassable. I was able to get part way in though, and got the following shots.
